Bring in your leftover candy and let's get a little hair of the dog beer & sugarfest going for this post-Halloween gathering. Extra points & a candy or two for those who can name the meetup name reference (except for Joy ;P who came up with the idea) If it's not so sunny & nice and cool I'll be out on the patio - though if the sun is out threatening my casper skin and cold beer I'll try and plant the group in the homey little "living room" in back. As always email if questions, concerns, need of carpoll/DD, or general howdy do .... godsnmortals@yahoo.c om

Independence is having their 5 years anniversary celebration on the 24th! (note: no 1st sat tour/tasting this month). As of now I cannot find a "starting" time for this little shin-dig so I'm posting this for the standard 1pm. If I hear different I will alert the troupes. Hopefully the weather will be cool but as usual I suggest you bring some sunscreen/hat & wear light clothing. Other suggested things would be chair or blanket, munchies, your ID, and a big@$$ smile. And it's extra important to have cash on hand for the purchasing of a glass - they are sure to have an awesome anniversary one available! ...and for tipping It can be difficult sometimes to find the group in this large unstructured situation so I'll do my best to bring along the token red balloon for easy spotting. ...or something just as tacky yet clearly meetup-ish. ;P If questions, concerns, need of carpooling/DD, or general howdy do business my email is godsnmortals@yahoo.c om ***If you haven't already: please feel free to sign up for their moble brew crew for inside info & the occasional free beer http://www.moptin.co m/?INDYBEER

It's time for an old favorite! http://www.draughtho use.com/ Since I'm on the "FunEmployment" I'm doing this one on their $2.75 pint night so please don't boo hoo that it's on a weeknight (and the most unpopular one at that). Tivo your shows, let the pets/kids take care of their own walking and feeding, put down the homework, and tell the life partner that they are on their own for a few hours & get your happy self down to the Draught House for yummy beer & beer people conversation. If it's not wet out I'll be snagging a bench or two out on the patio.

Sunday afternoon, what to do? Well, I'm thinking of a nice Chimay Blue in the sunshine on the back patio of our beloved Gingerman. Should be in the mid 80's, sunny and beautiful. For those who want to watch NFL football (including me) there are several nice big TV's with big comfy chairs and couches, just like at home, except you probably don't have a couple hundred great beers on tap at home. If you do, the next parties at your house. Cya Sunday!!

Yup, it's that time again.... so It shouldn't be a surprise even though it's a late posting ;P I'll be getting my beer on at the Independence Brewery for their oh so yummy monthly open house & am inviting the group to come along. It may be hot or it may be just right but as always I suggest bringing sunscreen, a chair, and any little thing that helps you stay cool in the heat. Some months they had BBQ/Burgers for purchase (about $5) & It's always suggested to leave a tip or two so bring cash if you plan on eating or tipping. Also for the newbies, or those who do not already own an Independence glass, you may purchase a pint glass for $6 & this guaranties you a little more tasting of the free brew. As it gets closer to the event I'll know best as to how you all can find me & where I'll plant myself once I get there. If there is enough breeze that day I'll try and snag the sofas again or I may just try to suffer outside near the building line for shade. Last month left everyone pretty much melted and salty fresh so fair warning that the summer months Independence meetups are not for the faint of heart ...or those who prefer air conditioned venues. Any questions, concerns, or Hellos can be sent to email/twitter godsnmortals@yahoo.c om I look forward to seeing you there!! http://www.independe ncebrewing.com/event s/brewerytour.html ***Side note. Last month the peeps at Indy were hinting that they were going to start charging about $5 but as of yet the site still says free***

Disclaimer for the BEER group: I know pluckers doesn't exactly offer up any "real" beers, or what some may think as being "real" beer, but I figured I would still throw this up here for those who enjoy some of the fine Texas beers they have on special ....and of course some free appetizers. My feelings will not be hurt if you never want to set foot in a pluckers ;P The word is out about how amazing meetups are & we've been getting some awesome offers from local businesses wanting us to try them out! Please watch in weeks to come for more special events to be posted. The first of what I hope to be many a "special" event: The good folks at Pluckers North have offered up some yummy enticements for us to come on in and give them a spin! Tuesdays are "Texas Tuesdays" with $2 shiner, lonestar, zeigenbock, & titos vodka specials so there will be plenty to wet your whistle while enjoying some free appetizers! (1 appetizer per 4 guests) For those who are not fans of chicken or cannot eat chicken due to dietary restrictions, Pluckers does offer burgers, salads, and plenty of non-chicken sides. They also offer a gluten free menu. Children also eat free on Tuesdays , so let me know if you would like me to open this up to a "family" friendly event. For a better look at the menu please check here http://www.pluckers. com/menu.aspx?Sectio n=localSpecials& Loc=NORTH%20AUSTIN I will not have a "maybe" option for this meetup since it's at a restaurant and they've requested a fairly accurate headcount so if you are unsure please RSVP "yes" with a comment. As always please remember to change your RSVP if your plans change and you are unable to attend. Thanks! I look forward to seeing you all at Pluckers for some free appetizers & $2 Texas drinks! ***Normally I am not a fan of cross posting/multi group "spamming" of an event but since this is such an awesome deal offered by the marketing team at pluckers & we will want to take full advantage of their generosity, I will be posting this on the ATX Happy Hour, North Austin Chit Chat, and the "lil of everything" social club sites as well. If you are members of some of these other groups I apologize for the mass posting/emailing in advance. If you are RSVP'ing "Yes" you only need to do so on one of the sites, though you may RSVP "No" on all if you are not attending.

Okay people, I heard rumors of this on twitter & facebook yesterday & wonderful Jenn was able to send me the details today -so I'm getting it posted for all to attend. This is going down on the same day as the Independence 1st Sat so we've got choices regarding our free beer! Indy is from 1-3 and this one is from 2-5 so for those brave enough & thirsty enough you could, in theory hit both .... seeing as they are both in South Austin, or you may just have to flip a coin & let fate take you where you need to be. Pro side to this one: it's a special celebration & it's not every day we get to hang out with the good folks at the 512. they've also been brewing up a special 1st Anniversary Ale just for the occasion & you'll be able to be one of the first to give it a try! Details: 1st ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Saturday, August 1st, 2-5 pm MUSIC - HOURLY TOURS - SCHWAG Come and taste our 1st Anniversary Ale - (512) ONE A Belgian-Style Strong Ale with Organic base grains, Forbidden Fruit yeast, domestic hops and local Good Flow wildflower honey - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 407 Radam, F200 Austin, Texas, 78745 Between South 1st & South Congress One Block south of Ben White

We are all hoping Henry returns from Vegas with enough scratch to buy us all a round (or two), but in the very unlikely event that he returns from poker playing with shallow pockets, we'll be taking advantage of the Cheap TX Pints over at the Flying Saucer the Sunday after his return. This way we can all buy him a Birthday round if the mood hits. I've learned that his clever quips become even more giggle worthy with each round you buy him. No need to check the weather forecast - it'll be too hot, which means I'll be elbowing my way onto one of the comfy sofas inside. Food is available for those who want to nibble & they do have plenty of beverages to pick from if the TX stuff just doesn't tickle your pickle (though may be safer to keep that to yourself). Hope to see you all! Oh, and as a reminder, we do love us some fresh meat! You are more than welcome to bring along a friend or two who may have not experienced the awesomeness of a meetup. **To help me know which of the sofa areas to strong arm my way onto please keep your RSVP as close to accurate as possible. Thanks!**
