Who organized?

If you don't spot me at a table, ask Nigel, the proprietor.

For something different, I will try to arrange a beer and cheese pairing. What? Beer and cheese, you say? Yes. Beer is a more natural pairing with cheese than wine. Here's a good article on the subject: Forget wine and cheese parties -- the true soul mate for fromage isn't made from grape juice.

If you forgot what we sampled, here is the lineup: Mt. Begbie Kölsch with Tomme D'Or Phillips Surly Blonde with 12 month old Manchego Fat Cat Black & Tan with Guinness Cheddar St. Agur Blue with Chimay Blue You can buy all the cheeses at Oyama in the Granville Island Public Market, which is also great for charcuterie. All of the beer can be found in the government liquor stores which usually have the lowest prices.

Glad to hear it, Charles. This is shaping up to be our largest Beer Meetup so far, so we should have a great evening.

The Alibi Room is serious about their beer. They do not have any mass market brands. They are also supportive of food pairing. I hosted a beer and chocolate pairing here in February for about 60 people. I'm looking forward to an encore.

Great fun, would totally do this again. Fantastic selection of cheeses and beer, well-paired. Well organized too. I look forward to more!
    •  This was the best-attended Meetup so far. We had a great, enthusiastic group with a number of guests who will probably be joining us in the future. Everyone seemed to enjoy pairing beer with cheese; I expect a number of people will be doing this at home and inviting their family and friends to join them.
    •  What a great turn out. I thought the beer and cheese pairing made for a perfect evening.

It was a really great event - I learned a lot about beer AND cheese - and had a great time. Thank you to Rick for organizing, and Chester for explaining everything to us at our table!! You guys are great!
