For a change of pace, we're going to a brewpub to try fresh beer. Steamworks was voted Best Local Brewpub by the Vancouver chapter of the Campaign for Real Ale. Their Grand Espresso Stout, which is still on, was voted Best BC Seasonal Beer. This is an excellent dessert beer paired with Steamwork's Hedgehog Icecream Pie, a combination that we will end the evening with.

    As Steamworks is a brewpub offering sample glasses of their beer, I decided on a different approach from previous Meetups. Rather than have one beer matched to one food item, we got four beers for people to match with two food items on their own. We finished with dessert and a matching beer. Given the response, I think it worked well. We may have even turned Robyn over to the dark side (she liked the Grand Espresso Stout). Good beer, good food, good conversation; I had a very pleasant evening.
